Education Fund

The Education Fund is the largest fund for every school corporation in Indiana.  This funding is provided from the state legislature through the budget.  The funding is distributed through the state funding formula, which is tied to student enrollment in each district.  The formula provides a basic foundational amount for each student, and additional funding based on a series of categorical grants.  The formula and amounts are adjusted every two years as part of the Indiana biennium budget process.  Currently, the Education fund can be used to pay for expenses allocated to student instruction and learning.  Transfers between the Education and Operations Funds are now permitted; however, there is an expected limit of less than 15% when funds are moved from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund.
