Churubusco High School Agriculture Program Awarded Dekko Foundation Grant for Advanced Welding Equipment
CHURUBUSCO, IN – The Churubusco High School Agriculture Program has been awarded a $6,745 grant from the Dekko Foundation to purchase state-of-the-art welding equipment that will revolutionize hands-on technical training for students.
This investment directly supports the program’s mission to prepare students for high-demand careers in agriculture, manufacturing, and skilled trades. The upgraded welding technology will enhance student safety, increase instructional efficiency, and align training with current industry standards—ultimately better equipping students to earn certifications and succeed in today’s workforce.
“This grant is a game-changer for our students,” said Cassie Perrin, Agriculture Educator at Churubusco High School. “Modernizing our welding equipment ensures we’re giving students the tools they need to confidently pursue careers in the trades and agriculture. It’s about real-world skills and real opportunities.”
The new equipment will be in place for the 2025–2026 school year, allowing students to train on professional-grade machinery and pursue industry-recognized certifications. The program anticipates serving at least 100 students through this upgrade and expects over 80% of participants to show measurable skill improvement by year’s end.
This project also strengthens the school’s connection to local industry and expands its ability to offer meaningful technical education in a safe, modern learning environment.
