Beginning with the 24-25 school year, SGCS will be utilizing Synchronous Learning Days for all of our weather cancellations.  This will allow us to provide meaningful instruction while not having to add on days at the end of the school year.

Synchronous Learning occurs when Teachers and Students are doing the same thing at the same time while not in the same place.  Both Students and Teachers will be on camera, meeting virtually throughout the day.  Elementary classes will meet for 3 hours each day while Jr-Sr High Students will meet for 3.25 hours each day.  Students will be expected to be on camera while the teacher leads the lesson for the day and then turn in an assignment after the virtual session.

We will continue to have some built in traditional "Snow Days" just in case we would need them.  We do not plan to use more than 3 Synchronous Learning Days in a row, but if we do, the 4th day would be a "Make Up Day".

If we should have to use a weather day during the first 2 weeks of school, it would be an Asynchronous Learning Day (Traditional E-Learning Day).  This is when teachers would post assignments on Canvas and students would complete on their own and turn in an assignment within 3 days.
